I was given a tape of Chris Knox's songs by a friend and he asked us to pick one for a tribute record. I don't think our song was released on the record but we had great fun recording it. I picked "One Fell Swoop" mainly because of the melody and the louder change on the chorus.
It seemed quite familiar with what we were about at the time. With other covers we were always quite faithful to the original, but on Chris' song we thought we'd try different things because it was not part of our usual background.
I think I suggested the cheesy keyboard and somebody else suggested the female backing vocals. It's actually my girlfriend singing and our kids have a good laugh now when they listen to it. After this I started listening to more stuff from New Zealand and there is so much to discover it's amazing.
