Hi - We're all really upset to hear of Jay Reatard's death. Jay visited Chris last year & they planned a US tour together before Chris had his Stroke. I never meet Jay but received numerous e-mails from him when putting 'Stroke' together - he was always fun, energetic, enthusiastic & a huge supporter of Chris & Chris' music. His version of 'Pull Down The Shades' was the final track to arrive for the NZ version of 'Stroke' & we enjoyed laughing with him over his note that claimed it was 'recorded in a batroom (sic) in Denmark Sweden'.

Barbara, Chris, myself and our friends all offer our condolences to his friends and family.

Roy

Please tell my old friend Chris Knox that I said hello.

I am just now finding out that he had a stroke and was wondering if we could have an update on his condition.

Jay's death was shocking and saddening. As much as he'd done already, you couldn't shake the feeling that his best music still lay ahead. He was a surprisingly skilled songwriter and had his role models right: Chris, Graeme Downes, et al. His treatment of "Pull Down the Shades" is choice. I didn't know him but miss him already.

As a young musician I am completely crushed learning about Jay Reatard.
His work will surely send shockwaves into the future of rocknroll, and artists even younger than I will draw influence from the seemingly effortless and brash genius that was Jay Reatard.
