Hiya - It's been a long while since I last posted & there is little to add at this point. I wont be posting again unless there is a development. Chris is still battling with seizures but has his good days. Everyone here has adjusted as well they can to the situation and is trying to make the best of their lot. Thanks everyone for your comments and love of Chris & his music.

Hi All - And a harpy few deer! Chris has been in pretty good health lately though his mum died a week ago - he went down to Invercargill for the funeral and, I am told, 'spoke' at the service. He's in good spirits generally & enjoying the odd whiskey & still watching lots of movies.

All the best.

Hi All - Chris is having a (pre-stroke) comic included in a new book put out by Spencer Hall. Spencer writes

"As you may be aware Chris Knox is something of a cartoonist. Having done lots of things for the Listener, Rip It Up, Real Groove and a bunch of others he also holds the title for NZ's longest running weekly newspaper strip "Max Media" for the NZ Herald since 1987. He also self-published his own underground comic "Jesus on a Stick" in the 80's.

The Dunedin Comic Collective have just released a new comic anthology featuring a previously unpublished Chris Knox comic alongside other NZ comic luminaries including Fane Flaws, Tony Renouf and Tim Cornelius just to name a few.

You can purchase DUD: The Dunedin Comic Revue or at least wrap your eyes around some of it here: http://www.dudcomics.blogspot.com/

- Chris is feeling ok & enjoying the odd brandy or whiskey in the evening. He inflicted 'Nightmare on Elmstreet 3' on me -  maybe I've pissed him off lately.

Hi Folks - All fine at this end. Chris is still off meds & feeling waaaaaaaay better. Our initial fears of a bad seizure are subsiding as we get some distance - makes you wonder why he was taking such nasty stuff though. Went for a walk round the hood & he seemed steady on his feet & had good stamina.  He's enjoying books - I bought him a Velvets book for his birthday which he rates, but I haven't been able to pry it off him for my own perusal yet. Dropped off a Stooges photo book to him yesterday which he gleefully flicked through. We watched Cronenberg's 'Spider' during the week which he liked too. We've been wanting to take him to hot pools for R'n'R but when we tried he got overheated very quickly & it was a bit of a disaster - we'll try again soon.

Alec was in town during the week and they played some music & recorded a track together. Chris is still painting as well.

All the best.

Hi All - Sorry to be quiet so long. A coupla weeks ago Chris decided to stop taking his anti-epilepsy medication - we gasped & expected the worst. But no, he has been feeling much better all round. There's the worry of a seizure but so far so good & thank fuck he's having some good days I say - it was pretty nasty there for a while. His mood is elevated too. So have a quaff of yer fav bevvie for Mr Knox's good health!

Holy Crap

Hi All - Spent yesterday with Chris. We watched 'Anatomy of a Murder' - which was fantastic! Can't believe I haven't seen it before - must see some more Preminger soon. Chris loved it too. Unfortunately after the movie Chris had an attack. He's going through a horrible new phase where he has to fight off a fit for an extended period of time twice a day. I don't want to go into details as it's a private thing really, but suffice to say it's a very unpleasant experience for the poor guy. It's unclear exactly what is causing the fits as he can go for a few days without them & is in a good mood, but then they return - so it doesn't seem medication related. He'll be seeing the doctor again this week to try and get it sorted.

Chris wanted music during the fit so I put on 'Help' & then 'Revolver' really loud  & Chris sung along to distract himself from what he was experiencing. Even though he was suffering it was great to see him mouth the words along to those albums that he's spent so much time loving.

PS

Hiya Barry - Chris sat me down one night to experience the joys of 'Holy Mountain' several years ago - it's quite a film. The box set is worth getting. How are you?

Hiya - Well Jonathon the latest on Chris is that he had a good week last week - in theory his medication issues are beginning to resolve - but I feel like a bit of a twit saying it cos we've had so many up/down/sideways/aboutface moments. There I was thinking we'd been wrestling with his meds for 4 months & someone said 'no about 8 - 9 months' - so sheesh, poor Chris. But here's hoping ......

Aaron - I don't know how you'd get hold of the epic version of 'Nothin' .... ummm other than through me really, if yer really keen to hear it send me an address and I'll fossick through Chris' CDs and see if I can get you a copy.

I tried to bully Chris into starting work on putting the compilation together but got a whithering sneer which I interpreted as 'leave me alone you little bugger, I'll work when I'm good and ready, not when you are' - his sneers always were quite eloquent.

Hiya - Chris had a good week last week. Feeling a bit clearer and more awake. We went to Strange Powers - The Magnetic Fields film & he spent the next few days trying to communicate to me that he'd recorded a track with Stephin Merritt for one of his other projects The 6ths - it wasn't easy to work out but we got there.
